The Malt Shovel is situated right in the heart of the community of the picturesque village of Barkby, just on the outskirts of Leicester. We offer the warmest welcome to locals and visitors and are known for our friendly atmosphere. Our pub is comfy and characterful thanks to a recent refurbishment, expanding our lounge area and enhancing our traditional features; with wooden beamed ceilings, fire places and our restaurant – which used to be an old jail!

Our large beer garden is perfect for those rare sunny days and you can even enjoy a game of Pétanque. However, our pride and joy is our tasty, home-made food. We have a classic pub grub menu full of choice and quality. We source our food locally so it’s fresh and always ensure our prices are affordable.
